View this Session

View this session with Perforce's Erwin Earley and Fresche's Marcel Sarrasin to get the latest on upcoming PHP 8.0 and Community PHP and learn why PHP is ideal for organizations that run applications on IBM i.

2020 has brought some exciting PHP announcements, including the upcoming release of PHP 8.0. This update will include performance improvements as well as several enhancements (named arguments, union types, attributes, constructor property promotion, match expression, nullsafe operator and JIT).

Earlier this year, Perforce also began offering a new, free Community PHP distribution. The introduction of Community PHP is a positive change for the IBM i market because clients now have more options to move forward with PHP for web and mobile development.

Erwin and Marcel will cover what you need to know about PHP on IBM i. They will discuss:

  • Enhancements in upcoming PHP 8.0
  • Deployment options (e.g. Zend Server, Community PHP, CommunityPlus+ PHP)
  • Why PHP is a great development language for IBM i organizations
  • How organizations are using PHP on IBM i
